"He was an amazing man. He'd come from Ukraine and gone to university and then medical school at NYU, where he was second in his class. He refused to serve in the Army in World War II, so he was assigned to the Veterans Administration, and we lived all over the place — New York, Texas, Kentucky."

When growing up in New York City, close to his Aunt Frances and Uncle Danny who resided in the Bronx, John* learned a guiding principle that has remained with him throughout his life: each of us has an obligation to leave the world a little better than they found it. John's Aunt and Uncle, Frances and Daniel Schamarock, chose Einstein as their avenue for impact.
