Frances and Daniel Schamarock

When growing up in New York City, close to his Aunt Frances and Uncle Danny who resided in the Bronx, John* learned a guiding principle that has remained with him throughout his life: each of us has an obligation to leave the world a little better than they found it. John's Aunt and Uncle, Frances and Daniel Schamarock, chose Einstein as their avenue for impact. When they passed away in 2019 and 2012, respectively, their estate planning afforded Einstein a transformational $8.5 million planned gift—a contribution that will help fulfill their lifelong mission.

"My Aunt and Uncle admired and respected Einstein's work," John said. "Their purpose was to help people and worthy causes. I am very proud of how they carried themselves and what they have done to make society a better place."

Longstanding influential donors to Einstein, the Schamarocks recognized science as the key to world changing. As staunch investors and successful entrepreneurs, they believed in raising capital and reinvesting it for the greater good. One such investment was in Einstein's Center for Experimental Therapeutics—an intellectual engine for cancer research and a cause they were personally passionate about advancing.

"My Aunt and Uncle taught me that it is important that you make an impact in this world," John said. "When they talked about Einstein, they thought it was the next best thing and knew it was a great investment. I hope their contribution will help to finance future research and that it will lead to progress. I hope that story will be part of their legacy."
